I change my personal computer every 2-3 years. Change is more accurate of a term as appose to upgrade, I think. These were my PC over the years. 1994: Pentium 75Mhz, 16mb RAM, 2 Gb Hdd, 2d Graphic Card, 15" monitor = RM3000 1996: AMD K6ii 450Mhz, 64mb RAM, 20Gb Hdd, 3d Card (same 15"monitor) = RM2000 2000: AMD Athlon 900Mhz, 128mb RAM, 40Gb+20Gb Hdd, Gforce 2MX, 17"LG monitor = RM2500 2003: AMD Athlon XP 1.4Ghz OC to 1.7Ghz, 40Gb+40Gb Hdd, Ati Radeon 8500LE, Tv Tuner Card, (same 17"LG monitor) = RM2200 2005: Same config as 2003, change Graphic to Nvidia 6600GT, some peripheral change = RM700. Total: RM10,400. Roughly about RM870/ year = RM72.5/ month. PC Fair 2006 mid year is just around the corner. I'm tempted to shell out another RM2500 for new system. However, I'm able to convince myself to wait for a little longer for potentially better overall deal. ----------------- Photography is also a tempting hobby to be involved in. I've done some research on digital photography and the conclusion I have so far is; to get highest quality picture possible - the only way to go is D-SLR. Initial investment for that kind of gear (camera body, lens(es), tripod(s), etc) is around RM 5000+ for entry level D-SLR. High Quality aside, I don't think I need such highend camera - at least not yet. I think I will get Canon A700 instead. It has manual control which I can grow with. The price of the camera is RM1199. |
